DUKE empirical extrudes polyester tubing, commonly called PET tubing or polyethylene terephthalate. PET is a lightweight thermoplastic polymer resin offering excellent dielectric strength and wear resistance. Polyester tubing is UV resistant and exhibits very low water absorption. Polyester tubing also provides outstanding optical clarity for image and light transmission applications such as optical coherence tomography (OCT) catheters.
PET Tubing Features
PET is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic polyester with a high flexural modulus; it can also hold extremely thin wall thicknesses. Polyester extrusion is compatible with EtO and radiation sterilization and is readily bondable with adhesives and thermal bonding. PET tubing can be formed into specific geometries, and DUKE empirical offers flares and tipping as secondary operations.
